VERDE
CANYON RAILROAD
This line is known as the Verde Canyon Railroad, L.C. because it follows the scenic and remote Verde River between Clarkdale, Arizona, to the remote ranch of Perkinsville. Although the line was originally purchased by David Durbano strictly as a freight operation, in November 1990, passenger excursion service was inaugurated on the scenic and historic portion of the railroad. From the beginning, the excursion operation has met with very positive operating results. Because of the unparalleled beauty of the Verde River Canyon, as well as the rich history of the area, the excursion train has proven to be a tremendously popular tourist attraction for the people visiting Phoenix, Flagstaff, the booming resort area of Sedona, and other outlying areas in Arizona. The Verde Canyon Railroad is recognized as one of the most beautiful train rides in America, with spectacular scenery. There is an abundance of native flora and fauna visible from the open-air viewing cars. Approximately 85,000 passengers travel on the Verde Canyon Railroad yearly. Back
